ELDERLY NUTRITION SERVICES

INTRODUCTION

Nutrition Division has partnered with Family Health Development Division, Institute for Public Health and the Social Institute of Malaysia, the Social Welfare Department in conducting training for caregivers in Elderly Care Institutions. The training that has been carried out:

Caregivers’ training in elderly care institutions (in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health and the Family Health Development Division, Ministry of Health) Menu Planning Course in Institutions (in collaboration with the Centre of Community Development, Social Institute of Malaysia, Ministry of Development in Women, families and society)

OBJECTIVE
  • To increase knowledge and understanding of the nutritional needs of elderly residents in institutions
  • Improving knowledge and understanding of basic menu planning in institutions
  • Increased knowledge and understanding of the provision of healthier, cleaner and safer food.

ACTIVITIES

  • Lectures on healthy meal preparation and modification of recipes
  • Lectures on recommendations of food requirements according to target groups
  • Conduct training on food modifications in accordance with local residents’ health
  • Conduct training on Menu planning at institutions
  • Conduct visits and operational training at Elderly Institutions
