INTRODUCTION

The National Coordinating Committee for Food and Nutrition is a platform for discussion and exchange of views in order to avoid overlapping of activities and the missing out of important scope of activities. The main objective is to use financial resources wisely by taking into account national nutritional problems and draw up appropriate action to overcome them.

TASK FIELD OF NATIONAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE for FOOD AND NUTRITION (NCCFN)

  • Taking the initiative to establish and monitor the National Nutrition Policy Malaysia with the involvement of various agencies.
  • Ensuring the National Nutrition Action Plan is implemented, monitored and evaluated with the involvement of all relevant sectors.
  • Getting the necessary resources and government support for the implementation of the National Nutrition Action Plan.
  • Establishing technical working groups and coordinate as well as oversee its activities.
  • Reviewing existing information with National nutritional problems and identify actions to be undertaken by various sectors to overcome such problems within the framework of nutritional policies and action plans.
  • Reviewing nutritional programs and related activities undertaken by various governmental and non-governmental agencies as well as to identify whether there are any overlapped or overlooked topics not implemented by any agencies.
  • Identifying governmental and non-governmental agencies that are capable of taking steps to improve emergency situations during natural or man-made disasters.
  • Producing recommendations for consideration by the National Food Safety and Nutrition Council in matters related to nutrition.
